Nicola has worked for Shell for over thirty years and has lived and worked in New Zealand, Norway, England, Netherlands, Scotland, Norway again and now Denmark, currently as Managing Director for Shell Exploration and Production. Nicola and her husband live in Copenhagen and they have two daughters and a son, all almost grown-up.
Nicola earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1979. She was the first female to be awarded a Masters in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh in 1980.
Career highlights include a spell running in-house graduate training and development courses; an assignment managing the UK’s Brent field operations and, in 2007-9, leading the team with responsibility for Norway’s Ormen Lange field and Shell’s UK gas infrastructure, together delivering a third of UK gas supply.
She is an inspirational leader with a passion for safety leadership and mentoring and career development. She has an extensive network in the energy business in Norway, UK and Denmark and speaks Norwegian.
Nicola was elected to the board of BCCD at the Annual General Meeting in May 2011.
