A good place to get started with learning Danish is the free website provided by the government Dansk her og nu. This has audio clips and clearly explained grammar, and teaches the basics needed to get you through your daily routine.
Once you receive your CPR number (roughly equivalent to a National Insurance number) you will get a letter explaining your options for heavily subsidised classes. You normally have 3 years from arrival in Denmark during which you can attend Danish classes at the reduced rate.
Additionally many employers offer private courses for their ex-pat employees, so it is worth finding out if anything is available to you through this route.
It is best to speak to your children's school to find out what the options are to help them learn Danish. |
