The future police - a sweeping modernisation of the Danish police

Henning Thiesen is 53 and was appointed as Commissioner of the new Copenhagen West Police District on 1 August 2006.
From 2000 - 2006 he was Public Prosecutor for Serious Economic Crime and been involved in for example the Farum and Tvind cases.
He served as Deputy Commissioner of the Copenhagen Police from 1996 - 2000.
Commissioner Thiesen has taught criminal law and other subjects at Århus University and at the National Danish Police Academy.
He will talk to us about the Police Reform that took place on 1 January 2007 and transformed 54 police districts into 12 districts. The objective was to achieve a more modern police service with sustainable police districts that are able to carry out major investigations and provide large-scale emergency and support services. He will also try to highlight how these changes have affected business.
