A global energy revolution is both necessary and inevitable

Katherine Richardson is Vice Dean of the Faculty of Natural Science and a Professor of Biological Oceanography at the University of Copenhagen.
She is Chairman of the Commission on Climate Change, set up by the Danish Government in March 2008. The Commission consists of ten scientist, each possesing special knowledge in the fields of climate, agriculture, transportation and economics. The Commission will be presenting suggestions as to how Denmark in the future can phase out fossil fuels, as is the vision of the Government of Denmark.
She was chairman of the Scientific Steering Committee for the large scientific congress "Climate Change: Global Risks, Challenges and Decisions" which was held in the spring as a part of the preparations for the UN Summit Meeting on Climate Change.
She has been active both as a member and/or chairman for a number of national and international research committees/advisory boards. In addition, she has experience in Danish government commissions and was Chairman of the Commission responsible for developing a new grading scale for the Danish educational system.
