Peter Kurrild-Klitgaard
is Professor of Political Theory and Comparative Politics at the Department of Political Science,
University of Copenhagen
, where he has held various positions since 1991. H
e specializes in political institutions, political economy and American politics
, especially issues such as elections, electoral systems and constitutions.
Before appointment to his current position, he was Professor at the Department of Political Science and Public Management, University of Southern Denmark and Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science, University of Aarhus (1998-2000). He has held visiting appointments at several institutions, including Cambridge University, Columbia University, New York University and the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University.
Professor Kurrild-Klitgaard is the recipient of Fyens Stiftstidende's Research Award (2003), the Political ScienceTeacher of the Year Award (2007)and the “Harald of the Year Award” (2007)and as a graduate student at Columbia University, he was a Fulbright Scholar and a Claude R. Lambe Fellow.
He writes as a columnist and commentator for Berlingske Tidende (1998-2002 and again since 2004) and has previously done so for Politiken (2003-04) and Dagen (2002). He is frequently used by radio and TV as a commentator on Danish and US politics. He is also regularly used as a speaker outside academia.
He is the author of several books, most recently Individ, Stat og Marked: Studier i Rationalitet og Politik (2005), Bushs Amerika(2005) og Adam Smith: Økonom, Filosof, Samfundstænker (2004).
