Susan has been Deputy Chief Executive of UKTI since April 2004. She is in charge of Strategy, human resources, the international network and the economics function.
From 2002 to 2004, she was Director for Human Resources & Change Management at the then Department of Trade & Industry. Before that, from 1999 to 2002, she was first Director of Export Control and then Director of Export Control & Non Proliferation. In the latter role, she was also the UK Governor on the Board of the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
From 1996 to 1999 Susan was the Deputy Chief Executive of the Office for Manpower Economics. Previous posts within the then Department of Trade & Industry have included the nuclear industry; the vehicle industry and trade relations with a number of East European and Latin American relations. Susan was also Director of Equal Opportunities in Cabinet Office from 1989 to 1992.
Susan has an MA in Economics and Modern History from St Andrews University and a Certificate and Diploma in Advanced European Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges. Susan also did a Stage at the European Commission.
