| Proposed Merger with the British Import Union | Print |
The Board of the BCCD has been exploring the possibility of a merger with a sister organisation in Denmark called The British Import Union. At an Extraordinary General Meeting called at the last lunch of the 2006/2007 season, our chairman Mariano A Davies gave a powerpoint presentation of the Board's proposal to go foward into the next stage of negotiations with the BIU. Our members gave the idea unanimous support.
See the presentation here.
Mariano was able to inform members that BIU members had voted favourably at their AGM a couple of weeks earlier.
At the Annual General Meeting on Friday 21 September, Mariano reported that although there had now been a lot of discussion and work done, delays over the summer period meant that the Board still had some details to get into place before a final proposal on the merger can be presented to members. He hoped that this would be at an EGM before the end of the year so that a merger could go ahead from 1 January 2008.
The EGM held on Friday 22 February 2008 gave unanimous support to the Board of BCCD's final proposal for the merger with BIU. The result of the vote at the BIU's AGM was also positive.
The merger will be celebrated at a reception on Thursday 3 April at the British Ambassador's Residence. |
