The first Annual General Meeting of BCCD-BIUPrint

A year ago the British Chamber of Commerce in Denmark and the British Import Union both unanimously voted to merge and we reported that it was a ”match made in heaven”. On Friday 15 May 2009, the merger was unanimously ratified at the first BCCD-BIU Annual General Meeting, which was professionally chaired by Board member Kirstine Troldborg, the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions in Denmark.

In his report on 2008, our Chairman Alf Duch-Pedersen was pleased to announce that it had been a good year despite the financial crisis. He reported that the Chamber had held 24 very well-attended events during the year and had also awarded two young Danes scholarships that would part-finance their studies at British universities.

Following an established tradition,  Ambassador Nick Archer, the Chamber’s Patron, was the guest speaker before lunch. He illustrated the "British perspective on Global Europe” by the way the British Government recently engaged in relation to the Lisbon Treaty, the British support of the EU’s determination to deliver on climate goals, the present economic challenges, migration issues, managing Russia, energy and global governance.

In conclusion, Ambassador Archer also highlighted both the important role played by UKTI in a Global Europe and the mutual benefits gained as a result of the successful cooperation between UKTI and the Chamber in Denmark.
