Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman arrived in Denmark for a short visit on 8th November, accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon.
In Copenhagen, Deputy Prime Minister Liberman met with Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Møller, Minister for Justice Brian Mikkelsen, Minister for Refugee, Immigration and Integration Affairs Birthe Rønn Hornbech, President of the Danish Parliament Thor Pedersen, and Chairperson of the parliament's Foreign Policy Committee Gitte Lillelund Bech. They discussed Israel’s relations with the EU, including regional security issues with regard to Iran & Syria.
On Monday 9th November, Deputy Prime Minister Liberman attended a Gala dinner held in his honour at the Israeli Ambassador’s Residence in Hellerup. He was greeted by a selection of business people and politicians, including Mariano A. Davies, BCCD President.
He also met members of the Jewish community and took part in a ceremony at the memorial site for the Jews of Denmark who were sent to the Terezinstadt concentration camp, laying a wreath in their memory. |
