Patron
We are pleased to announce that the newly arrived British Ambassador for Denmark, H.E. Mr David Frost, is now the Patron of BCCD. In a meeting with Board Members in the Chamber office on 30 May, his second day at work in Denmark, he explained that he sees his role as being partly ceremonial, partly to promote interaction and the exchange of views about the scene in UK and partly to develop day-to-day co-operation between BCCD and the Embassy. He was accompanied at the meeting by Pam Balkin, Head of UK Trade and Investment at the Embassy.
Lunches
We are grateful to Founder Member Allan Eimert's European Search Group for inviting members again to Summer Lunch in the garden on Friday, 16 June from 12.00. Please sign up at the web site by 14 June so that we can let Allan know how many members can accept the invitation in good time. We expect beautiful weather this year so that we can enjoy the garden and the splendid lunch. There will be a large band from 17.00 for those who can stay on to enjoy it.
Lars Liebst spoke to members and guests about Tivoli and new thinking in the Nimb Restaurant at lunch on Thursday, 18 May. He explained the changes and developments going on at Tivoli in the context of its history and gave us an insight into the scale of the operation necessary to maintain and enhance Tivoli's reputation.
The BCCD Golf Tournament sponsored by Ernst & Young
The challenge is on for the BCCD trophy and other prizes in the professionals' 18 hole Tournament and for prizes for those hitting the ball the fewest number of times over 9 holes in the non-professionals' competition. Professionals (with a handicap) and non-professionals (including absolute beginners) are both invited to sign up now at the web site for the tournament at the Copenhagen Golf Centre on Sunday 13 August. This will be the third such Tournament and it makes an excellent morning out for everybody concerned, with a friendly lunch in the club house afterwards. We have previously had two competitions of roughly the same size, thereby catering for members and guests of all abilities.

The Danish Economy
The Danish Economic Council report that "the Danish economy is experiencing a period of high growth" and that "the international outlook is relatively bright", with unemployment down to 4.8%, increase in demand set to rise by 4.5% implying an increase in imports, and GDP expected to rise slightly above 2.5%. Increasing house prices are identified as a major driver with only moderate increases in the wage rate reported. The Council concludes that "the risk of the economy overheating must be taken seriously".
The 2006-2007 Programme
Work is going ahead to develop our programme for the 2006-2007 season beginning in September, when we go into our third financial year. This year we have moved the Annual General Meeting from the September lunch to the October lunch on Friday 13 October.
Details of lunches for the rest of 2006 are on the web site as soon as they are known so that members can book the dates and line up their guests in plenty of time to meet on the third Friday of the month in the Imperial Hotel from September 15.
Summer
Meanwhile, we wish you a really good summer break as we scale down our operations until August and we look forward to meeting you again at the Golf Tournament or in September.
