Recent events:

  • Lunch with Steen Bocian in October

Steen Bocian gave a very lucid explanation of the reasons behind the recent financial commotion and its possible consequences to those BCCD and BIU members who attended the October lunch. The key factor was clearly the problems experienced in the US subprime housing market. Steen's presentation can be downloaded from the BCCD website at the link below.

  • BCCD’s Autumn Ball 2007

  •

This year’s British Chamber Autumn Ball at the Odd Fellow Palæ was attended by almost eighty people. Each couple was photographed and welcomed by the Chamber’s Chairman, Mariano A. Davies. With August Rosenbaum, an award winning student at the Rythmic Music Conservatory Copenhagen, playing the grand piano stylishly in the background and pink champagne, the tone was set for the Chamber’s social event of the year with ladies in evening gowns that reflected the rich colours of autumn.

After an appetizing starter and main course, the Chamber’s VIP guest and after dinner speaker Helge Hortdal, the author of “De tre røde konge” (a biography of the three Danish Social Democratic Prime Ministers in the first period after the second world war), reminisced about the period when he served as Secretary of State in the Prime Minister’s Office. He spoke about the times when he accompanied the Danish Prime Minister of State on visits to many destinations, including visiting Prime Minister Harold MacMillan in 10 Downing Street in the early sixties.

The evening’s programme also included the amazing magical Mr Mox and an excellent band “Efterfyraften” whose repertoire ranged from early Beatles melodies to Kim Larsen.  As midnight approached and the band took a break, the winner of two Sterling tickets to any of their destinations in Europe was found and the Chamber’s Patron, the British Ambassador HE Mr. David Frost, thanked all those who helped make the Ball such a delightful event and the Chamber for its efforts to further British and Danish trade interests.

All our guests at the Ball will be receiving a CD with the photographs taken during the evening.

Member's news:

  • DLA Nordic changes name to Horten

One of BCCD's Founder members, DLA Nordic have made changes to their relationship with the global law firm DLA Piper and as a result changed name to Horten on Wednesday, 24 October 2007. They have introduced a new logo and visual expression.

They underline that clients and business associates will not experience any changes in the cooperation with them and give the following explanation of their decision:

"We always aim to ensure that our Danish and international clients are not exposed to conflicts of interest. This is a fundamental prerequisite for our work. In the past year, however, we have realised that our strategy and growth plans combined with DLA Piper's continued expansion could potentially involve an increased risk of substantial

commercial conflicts of interest if our cooperation were to continue on the previous premises. We want to prevent such a risk, and we have therefore chosen to change our relations with DLA Piper and enter into a new cooperation agreement. In order to make our growth plans possible, we have also decided to build a new domicile for the firm at Tuborg Harbour, Hellerup. The domicile is expected to be ready for occupation in the autumn of 2009.

With the change, we will strengthen our position as an independent law firm, continuing our good cooperation with DLA Piper, but no longer as an integrated part thereof. In this way, we will still be able to contribute with strong international competencies when requireded by our clients.

The firm was founded by Hans R. Horten, and the choice of company name symbolizes that we will bring the best from our roots and a history of more than 50 years with us and continue the positive development, which has contributed to the progress, internationalisation and professionalisation of the firm."

  • Elise Møller MD of EM Growth lauches new interactive lecture ’Light your fire – burn through, without burning out’

In all its simplicity, this is a lecture with the purpose to find what makes your heart tick – both in working or in private life. Even what makes a company’s heart tick.

If you have your inner fire – you have the will and the positive-ness that makes you burn through, so you don’t use valuable time running after the wrong goal.

And the best of it is – you or your company will be the winner!

I can, I will and I know how to do it, is my strength and that will be your strength.

For further information, or to make a booking, please contact Elise Møller
