Mie La Cour Sonne has studied Economics at Copenhagen University, where she was in the top of her class at Bachelor level, which she completed in January 2008. In recent years she has developed a passion for econometrics because, as she says it, “it gives a possibility to test out the financial theories in practice”.

Mie has therefore chosen to apply for a semester at one of the leading schools on the field, London School of Economics. She will be one of 24 on LSE's M.Sc. in econometrics, which has around 500 applicants each year.

Update:

Mie has now successfully completed her MSc in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics, and has sent us this photo from her graduation.  Here is her story in her own words:

The year at LSE was an amazing experience on all levels. The programme was a great challenge and it was very exciting to be taught by professors I have admired since my undergraduate days. At the same time I got to meet students from all over the world. LSE is known to have students represented from almost every country in the world, and in my class alone we had more than 20 countries represented.

After having graduated from LSE I was lucky enough to get a summer internship with the economic consultancy firm Oxera. I worked for Oxera all summer, first at their Oxford office and later in the London office. The internship was very educational and it was indeed great to get some of all the economic theory used in practice. I actually got so happy with being at Oxera that I now consider moving back to London after having graduated from University of Copenhagen in ten months time, to work for Oxera full time.

With this report I would like to thank the British Chamber of Commerce in Denmark for your invaluable support. First of all, my dream of studying at LSE would not have been possible without the support from British Chamber of Commerce in Denmark, and others like you. Secondly it really was a great back up to know that someone out there had faith in my project. I am really positively surprised by the great opportunities Danish students have to study abroad.
